Goal

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.  A wish gives children renewed energy and strength, brings families closer together and unites communities.  Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 285,000 wishes to children in the U.S. and its territories; more than 15,300 in 2016 alone.

In 2016, Maddi’s mom Laura,  began to find bruises all over the toddler’s body. They seemed to appear out of nowhere. Then a small scratch at daycare wouldn’t stop bleeding.

A trip to the local clinic lead to a hospital visit, where they discovered that 23-month-old Maddi had leukemia. Since her diagnosis she has endured fevers, infections, transplants and hospital stays.

Maddi missed being able to play at the beach, so she knew right away what her one true wish was when Make-A-Wish Minnesota asked. In March 2018, Maddi and her family headed to Fort Meyers Beach to spend a week in the sun, sand and surf.

“This wish enabled us to truly enjoy this amazing time as a family and celebrate Maddi,” Laura said.

Together as a running community, we have the power to transform lives, just like Maddi's, one wish at time.  You can support Make-A-Wish by making a donation today.
